March Break...I think?

We're well into the March Break and the kids are enjoying a relaxed pace to our days. Findlay loves that he doesn't have to go to school, but the kids are disappointed that Andrew is working, as am I. Unless we're going away it doesn't really make sense to take the time off though. Or that's what I tell myself!

I've got an endless to-do list that only seems to grow. I remember having better success with my to do list when the kids were tinier. How is it that I seemed busier and wearier then, but in hindsight I think I was more productive? I think there are more demands on my time that have crept into our lives, and perhaps it's time to reflect on what I can successfully contribute outside of my home and what isn't benefiting from my time and energy (or lack therof!)

The kids are playing outside quite nicely and I think they're enjoying a change of scenery. We're hoping to head to the Bembridge cottage tomorrow for some time with the Falcon Run crew. We don't see them nearly as much as we once did, so we have to grab our moments when we can. I anticipate a little more time together in the summer when the girls get to sail with Keigan and all of the kids swim on the swim team together.

We're saying goodbye to the Subaru soon. It has served us well over the last 9 years, but it has done its time. Andrew is posting it on kijiji to see if someone wants it for parts. Andrew's just happy to have his Porsche on the road and that the weather has allowed him to drive it so far, which makes all of our varied activities manageable. Come next winter we will likely try to juggle with one vehicle if we can...but with three active kids, it's hard to contemplate that one!

Must be off to do some birthday prep for Andrew. He's turning 41 on Thursday and I'd like to do a proper meal for him for a change. While I enjoy dining out, he prefers to stay in, but he still enjoys a gourmet meal...so I'm trying my hand at an Indian meal. Here's hoping it will be a good one for him.

Well, my to do list beckons as well...likely I will tackle it in the opposite order than I should...but how else will I finish a blind for my kitchen window than when I'm procrastinating from doing Church committee work, or the unfun administrative office tasks like taxes!

Some time to blog...

I lament how I rarely have the time to post anything new for the blog, but I have a free moment now (actually I'm avoiding the many other things I'm supposed to be doing!)

I don't have many worthwhile photographs to go along with this entry, but I do have a nice one of Meredith and Andrew, and a cute one of Findlay, so that's what I've posted. Findlay is on the Crazy Submarine at Crystal Palace. He had a good time there, but all three of the kids were so exhausted that they only had the stamina to stay until mid-afternoon.

Meredith just recently recovered from a strange virus that affected her balance and energy. She just wasn't herself for six days, but she came around thankfully and I have to remind myself that when she gets knocked out, it's often that she doesn't eat enough to bring her back around.

I have been feeling the time change over the last few mornings. I find it strange that it's affected me, as on the day of the time change I woke at 6:30 a.m. (old time) on my own! Since that day, I've been dragging myself out of bed at the same time. What's that about? I find people are getting excited for spring with the milder afternoons we have had...but it's too early to start thinking that way. I just know we've got some distance to go and if I get too excited too early, I will lose my drive to keep on keepin' on!

As I stare at heaps of paper around my desk and sense the looming pile of laundry expanding to the front hall, AND hear the distant pings of my laptop from work emails...I guess I no longer have time to blog! Happy March...here's hoping the coming March Break will help me adjust to the time change.

Life doesn't get better in the winter....

Some pics taken after a sledding adventure not far from home. We started out with the intention of going skating on a lake, but the ice wasn't in good condition, so we switched gears and got out the sleds. I hope this memory will be one of the ones that sticks with the kids, because it was a nice one for us. As cranky as we all get in the winter, you have to remember that there aren't any bugs and you rarely get overheated and the sand doesn't stick inside your suit!

Make the most of it...because it's here for a while longer!

New and renewed furniture...

We just got a new couch for our living room after the junior cat has slowly destroyed our old couch. We also recovered a vintage chair of my grandmother's and it looks and feels fabulous! The rug was purchased at the same time as the new couch and we're pleased with how it's all coming together. One day I think I might even feel like a grown-up! Enjoy the pics...
